NIH 2011 Loan Repayment Program Opens September 1
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) 2011 Extramural Loan Repayment Program will open September 1, and close on November 15, 2010. If you have a doctoral degree and are currently or will be conducting qualified research in the areas of Clinical Research, Pediatric Research, Health Disparities Research, Contraception and Infertility Research, or Clinical Research for Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds, you may be eligible for up to $35,000 in loan repayments. Applicants must commit to at least two years of research funded by a domestic nonprofit foundation, university, professional association, or U.S. government agency; devote at least 20 hours per week to qualifying research; have educational loan debt of at least 20% of base salary; and be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident. Eligibility requirements and an online application are available at http://www.lrp.nih.gov/.
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Student Loan Reimbursement
Nearly $200 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has been allocated to support student loan repayments for primary care and mental health clinicians who want to work at National Health Service Corps sites. Fully trained health professionals who are dedicated to working with the underserved and have qualifying educational loans should apply for this opportunity.

Council of Interns and Residents
Serving as the representative body and advocate for all osteopathic interns, residents and fellows in AOA, ACGME and military postdoctoral training programs, this group of dedicated postdoctoral trainees work to support you and your best interests to the AOA and the osteopathic family.
Intern and Resident Representatives
Almost every AOA bureau, council and committee has a designated Intern/Resident Representative position. This is a great way to get involved with the profession, especially in areas that most interest you: international medicine, research, education, women's health, governmental affairs, student affairs, and almost every aspect of the profession. Postdoctoral trainees in either AOA- or ACGME-accredited programs are encouraged to apply.

Check out the Continuing Medical Education page to view courses on OPP topics, including organizational courses through the Cranial Academy, the Sutherland Cranial Training Foundation, the American Academy of Osteopathy, and more. The PAAO Web site also features membership information, access to the most recent information regarding NMM/OMM Residencies and +1 Residencies, as well as a members-only forum to discuss current topics relevant to interns and residents.
American Osteopathic Association of Sports Medicine (AOASM)
